QuickTime installed, still can't use MOVs? (SOLVED)
So I've been really starting to learn the ropes of HitFilm, it's a great program. However, I decided to test out how MOV files work on here (note I have a Windows laptop). As I imported the MOV file that was put on my PC from my iPhone, I was given a warning saying the file could not be imported, and I need to install QuickTime. I installed QuickTime 7.9 on my Windows 10 PC and whenever I try to import MOV files they STILL say I need to install QuickTime! Any way to fix this?

Assuming rebooting didn't fix tbings...
Which model iPhone? Chances are your phone's videos are in h.265 (especially if 4k). Hitfilm doesn't support h.265, so you'd have to transcode to h.264.
Phone videos are variable frame rate, and should ALWAYS be transcoded to constant framerate anyway.

I seem to be under the impression that having Quicktime on your Windows system is a security risk and that it's no longer being supported. Am I wrong or just paranoid?

@Farscape It's blown out of proportion. I wouldn't see the big deal with that because a lot of people don't update other software on their PC as well. It's not a big deal, but if you must know, it was a web plugin issue, not local.

@Farscape I was in the same boat as you a while back. I was concerned that it would break my otherwise perfect workflow.

@Farscape I avoid conspiracy theory as a rule, but I find it interesting that the US government gave an "you should uninstall Quicktime" warning a week after Apple refused to hack an iPhone for the FBI. The US government have never issued an uninstall warning for things far less secure...
