I am making a movie and I want to know if it is possible to make a text message appear on the screen beside my actor. I don't know if it is possible to do with hitfilm (I don't have the pro version)
I want it to look like it does in this clip

It doesn't have to look exactly like this just so you can see the text messages

Yes, you can make it look exactly like that if you want. The messages are just a solid shape and some text. Use a plane and a mask to create the shapes, or create them in an image editor and import them. Then add the text for the message and the sender.
