  Nope. For 3D modeling, you'll want to use a 3D modeling/animation program, then import the rendered footage into HitFilm.

  I read a little on Blender, and that looks good, at least for a free modeler and for the simple things I would be doing. Is Blender compatible with Hitfilm, as far as models that I render from it?

  Blender is very powerful, and among the more difficult 3D software to learn. It is compatible with HitFilm as much as any 3D modeler, but keep in mind that you can't import 3D models into Hitfilm, you will need to render from Blender to a 2D video first.
  But yeah, Blender is great, as long as you are aware that the learning curve is pretty steep. It does have lots of training resources available to help though.

  Google Sketchup can create cool 3d drawings, but im not sure it does videos.

  It's worth clarifying that HitFilm's text is 3D, it just doesn't support extruding at present.
