.MOV files wont import on HitFilm 3 Express
Hello everyone! Here's some computer specs:
Processor: Intel Core i7-5500U
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5500
RAM: 8 GB
64-Bit
I'm currently running on Windows 8.1 and don't have anti-virus protection yet. I own a Dell computer.
My issue is that when I want to import media from my computer, in my case .MOV files that I have uploaded from my camera to my computer, it says that the file type isn't supported.
I know the file type IS supported because I checked which file types are supported on the Hit Films Support page. I can upload my pictures in the file type .JPG just fine, that were uploaded from the same camera I film with... The .MOV files are opened with Windows Media Player. Could this be the issue?

Sorry if there's any confusion...
I know that .MOV files are supported so I'm not sure why my .MOV files aren't importing.

Do you have Quicktime installed?
-
I don't. Will this help?
-
Yes it will QuickTime has to be installed for HitFilm to access MOV files.
-
Will I have to buy QuickTime Pro in order to save and convert files?
-
Nope just the regular QuickTime
-
Regular Quicktime wont allow me to save files or convert media though... I have a PC not a MAC.
-
That won't make a difference to HitFilm. HitFilm uses QuickTime components to import MOV files and the only way to get those is by installing QuickTime. HitFilm does not export any QuickTime formats so you don't need Pro.
-
Oh, DUH, of course that's why Hitfilm on Windows can't export Quicktime. $25/unit licensing.

I have installed Quicktime, and it didn't work for me. I then tried fixing the install, and it still doesn't work. Is it because I have Windows 10?

Did you restart your computer after running the Quicktime installer?
