Grass Valley EDIUS and HitFilm Ignite
I just watched a Youtube video from NAB where one of the marketing guys from GV was talking about Hitfilm supporting the Ignite plugins inside Edius 8. Thats exciting news for me as I find myself using Edius more and more these days. Anyone from FXHome care to comment?
BTW, a plugin to open HF composite shots inside of Edius would be fantastic since that functionality has been lost in Vegas.

Hello all,
First post so allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pat and I am the guy in the GV EDIUS booth demoing this week at NAB. We are very excited to have this collaboration with Hitfilm. I am very happy to see an affordable high quality plug-in pack that will install directly into EDIUS.
It is a reality as we are showing it at the booth. Although it is only an alpha version lots of work has been done in a short amount of time. I spoke with some of the Hitfilm team this morning and they seemed very confident that they would have the product to market in a very short time.

@pjsssss Pat, thank you. That's good information to have. Enjoy NAB.

Hi @TommyCampbell - absolutely, we're really excited about the development of HitFilm Ignite plugins for EDIUS. While there is no firm date for release, as @pjssssssaid, development is going well. We'll be sure to keep everyone updated as to the status of the plugins and let you know when they become available!
If you want to find out any more information about what EDIUS 8.2 will include, take a look at their full press release from yesterday: https://www.grassvalley.com/news/press/releases/view/3101-grass-valley-rolls-out-new-creative-features-for-edius-8 -
I think 8.2 is supposed to drop on Thursday. Looking forward to trying out the new features this weekend on a project I'm starting.

@Sarasota 8.2 should be a free update. Generally full version numbers are paid updates, fractionals are free.

@Sarasota @Triem23 @TommyCampbell
Thought I'd add to this thread that our CEO Josh was interviewed about EDIUS at NAB this year. If you want to learn more about the direct plugin, you can give this a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enBX-GiVlgs -
@Sarasota Edius itself is not GPU accelerated their core engine is optimized around the CPU and maintaining a YUV workspace throughout the pipeline, That being said x264 playback is accelerated, accelerated x264 encoding is done via QuickSync and it supports GPU accelerated plugins.

So that was YOU who was running the Edius demo at NAB!
I was pretty impressed. Seeing the HitFilm plugins running in Edius was cool.
Now we just need to get those FX into Scratch...

Not an Edius user since my needs are not so sophisticated, in my few test I did appreciate the high level of optimization that enable Edius to work really fast.
Need to be used to his workflow tough, not the most intuitive for a beginner.
Happy to know HF is coming to Edius, he is my first choice for the next step in video editing.

Just to let you guys know here (@TommyCampbelland others) that today we released support for EDIUS in our latest update for HitFilm Ignite.
You can find out more here: http://hitfilm.com/software-update/hitfilm-ignite -
Awesome! Now I just need to resist the temptation to play around with it today instead of working
-
-
Now.........tell us how you really feel!

Ignite is OFX, Hitfilm is proprietary so I don't think presets directly transfer. But, you can always open both programs to copy values. If you reuse a common preset often, then it's still build twice, reuse forever

@Sarasota Imagineer is a bit behind on their website as well. They still list Mocha Hitfilm as compatible with Hitfilm 2U, neglecting 3/4 and they don't correctly list features (!) since it shares a column with Mocha AE (Mocha AE only has roto splines, and tracking/corner data. Hitfilm adds 3D camera solves).

Sarasota - whoa! Now that's the reaction we're looking for
Glad you're psyched about the new update.

Sarasota - thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you giving it a run through, and glad to hear that it was working well. We'd like to try to replicate the issue you mentioned with the overlay - could you please send us a support ticket with as many details as you can? hitfilm.com/questions/submit
