How can I make a Video transparent?

I want to make a slideshow with clips and between the clips there should just be a transparent background for 5-10 seconds

With Qtime (RGBA). Unfortunately the files are getting huge. Then it can be transcoded to VP8 or VP9 which supports alpha channel.
