New update is the worst decision ever
Since the new upgrade, it's become a nightmare to work with Hitfilm. I can't even go back to old version now, because I have updated my templates to the latest version.
I upgraded by graphics card. I noticed the timeline cache issue and disabled it, but still its slow. Move a clip, trim it or swap it- it hangs for 15 seconds. A 15 minute task is now taking 45 minutes to finish up. Before the upgrade it was working well, no hanging issue at all.
Plus during exporting, I am getting now error -48. I worked for 1 hours and then I can't even export the videos.
Why would the technical team bring an upgrade before testing it?

@DixitSuman this release WAS tested extensively and even delayed for months to sort everything out. It worked great on all the hardware it was tested on. However, it is literally impossible to test every configuration. Rest assured, the devs are working hard on a patch to resolve these issues. In the meantime, you can try contacting support directly… they may have a solution for you.

@DixitSuman And by opening a support ticket and giving them as much info about your systems as possible it may prove the missing piece of the puzzle in what is different from all the test machines and numerous other users that doesn't have this issue,

Also, if you ARE bouncing along on the bare minimum specs, or close to, then that's your problem in and of itself. Also, what sources are you using as some cameras compress footage for ease of playback, but are NOT suited for editing, H.264/265 are two that are not well suited for editing.
2021.2 will tax your system a bit more than 2021.1 did, and if you are are marginal on 2021.1, you will be even more so on 2021.2 and so if you haven't, go over to support and list your PC, what CPU, GPU etc, source footage and whether it's constant or variable frame rate etc and see what they suggest.

@littlehausbigcity I genuinely thank you for your efforts in helping Mods and Ambassadors stay on top of the threads relating to the unfortunate render and slowdown bugs affecting a small percentage of users of HF 2021.2. It's nice to see a newer forum user jump in and invest in the community.
In our discussions with FXhome Staff we've been asked to just refer these users directly to Support and remind them to supply their specs so the devs can collect data and try to patch these problems ASAP.
So, if you keep on doing what you're doing, but add the support link, that would be wonderful.

Thanks again for your own understanding, help and patience. I'm sure the other Mods/Ambassadors/Staff share my appreciation. 👍😁

Totally agree.

Same issues here.. Hitfilm has become extremely sluggish and slow since the update, I thought I was back in premiere..
Until this update, hitfilm was smooth as, could edit 4k gopro videos without even using proxies, never had any crashes etc. Working on my first project since update, it has already crashed twice and been extremely slow. After an annoying day editing, I was finally ready to export. And guess what, the da*n export get stuck at 17%. What is going on?!

@fxhomer149132 Please contact support directly - https://fxhome.com/support
Though you didn't list them here, they will want to know your system specs.

Sure I can post them, but it was working flawlessly before (and I even tried to put in a 1070 today instead of my 1050 I used before, no difference). I'm sure it's something with the update.. I never used proxies before, but even that is choppy.. I hope they'll figure out what it is, because it aint the hardware..

@fxhomer149132 No one is disputing it is something with the update, but it is only affecting some machines and not others that very much rigorously tested the update in the home office. The only way for the devs to find the root cause of the issue is by getting as much info from those affected machines as possible since their machines will not replicate it. It's not a finger pointing question, but a data gathering question.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply.
The common thread I've seen so far, seem to be AMD cpu, but it's just a guess for now..
-
Good catch. I had not noticed that, but it does seem a viable possibility. I know I use NVidia and have no issue.
-
I wish my HitFilm functioned that well. Since installing the new update, I can't even use the program—importing a video causes it to crash. I literally cannot do anything because HitFilm refuses to run.

@NoMitherNoProblem Please consider connecting support at https://fxhome.com/support and give them the details listed in this thread plus any other relevant info you can think of regarding to issue:
It's the only way it can be tracked down really.

Is there a way to go back to the previous version of HitFilm? It worked just fine for me with no problems whatsoever before this, and now with the update installed it's the digital equivalent of deadweight.
-
@NoMitherNoProblem Yes, it is possible, but, sadly, any projects you have created or transferred over to the new version will not be able to be opened by an early version. Here is a link that will let go back a pretty long way in version. Note: you will need to uninstall the current version before you install the older.
