HitFilm 15 crashing at startup

Hello ! Same problem here, Hitfilm 15 crashes each time at startup :
CPU: I7-6700K
GPU: RTX 960
OS: Windows 10 Home
RAM: 24 GB -
I had not seen the message asking for dumps, sent them 3 times yesterday evening (France)
-
@solutionlibre thank you, I'll find the dump and check it. I'm currently looking at crashes and may have potentially identified a problem.
Any information possible from future posters is appreciated whilst we try to find the problem and hopefully a workaround for now.
-
@solutionlibre I've just checked the dump you sent and I'm trying to figure out the cause: did you install HF in the default location?
-
@TheBenNorris Yes, I think it is the default location :
C:\Program Files\FXHOME\HitFilm Pro -
@solutionlibre thanks for getting back to me. We are currently investigating the cause of these crashes. Yours seems to be an issue on launch related to the home page, could you for now try using version 14.3 if you are unable to get 15 to launch?
Unfortunately it is now the weekend so our stuff will be unavailable until Monday, but I will pick up this issue as soon as I can.
-
@TheBenNorris Luckily I use git to store my project file so I could go back to the previous version I can open with the Hitfilm 14.3 version ! Otherwise, with my project saved under Hitfilm 15, it would have been complicated.
Good luck with this problem, can't wait to use the new version -
@solutionlibre it looks like your GPU drivers may be a factor here, can you please update them from NVIDIA's site, and see if that helps? https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/162105/en-us
-
Hello @AxelWilkinson, as I explained in the other thread, my driver is up to date, at the exact version given by your link.
-
@solutionlibre Hey, any chance you could tell us a little bit about your footage too, and what device it comes from? Thanks
-
Hello @IamJoshuaDavies !
I can't really tell you that since it crashes before opening any project file.
Anyway, right after the install, when I first experienced crashes (before rebooting and not beeing able to launch hitfilm 15 anymore), it was on a project with multiple footages :- Some m4v files H.264 1920x1080 25 fps (re-encoded from a MPEG-2 mov video with HandBrake, too heavy for my computer and hitfilm) Edit : Sorry I forgot the video camera the first time, for that specific footage we had a JVC - GY HM600E
- Some mp4 files from a panasonic compact DC-GF9
Thank you for your help

I am having the same issue. Hitfilm 15 crashes about 30 seconds after I load my project and I am running the right specs.
I am using mp4 files as my video. Please fix this as soon as possible because I was considering purchasing Pro but now I am very hesitant due to this reliability issue.

Hello,
To help your users in the future, I have found workaround in my case, if I enable "OSD" on "GPU Tweak 3" application, "HitFilm Pro" crash.
If I disable OSD before launch "HitFilm Pro" all is working well.

Having pretty much no useful technical information to share, :-) I have no option other than to go philosophical. To avoid hassles, don't ride the cutting edge of anything unless you have some specific compelling reason to do so.
