Text Effect Controls? How to change color and size?

I'm new to using the text effect (as opposed to adding text into a comp shot)
I bought a pack just to make adding text easier. But I can't figure it out.
There's no options to change color, size or anything really.
How do I use this text effect?

Those controls are in the "Format" group. You opened the Transform group, and keyframed in it, but for some reason you neglected to look into the format group.
