if I buy hitfilm pro will I have this version forever or is it a subscription?

You will have the current version of Hitfilm Pro plus the next 12 months of updates. If you choose not to renew after a year you will keep the software as it is when your year runs out but will not receive future updates.
Think of it as buying a version you keep but subscribing to updates.

Correct. You can always get Hitfilm Express, which is free, and buy add-ons as you need them.

Does Express with all the addon like Pro? Or pro has something more?
