Advice Please! I'm about to change my notebook for better Hitfilm performance.
I'm gonna change my notebook for one with better qualities, specially for photo and video edition (a.k.a. Hitfilm)
My old note is Core i3/RAM 4GB, and my plan is to change for something with a minimum of 8GB and 4GB graphics but most of the affordable options are Core i3. Should I wait and save more to go for an i5? or it will work fine (with a nice flow) with 8GB of RAM and 4GB for graphics still being i3?
Thank you in advance.

You really need to get a notebook with a dedicated GPU. Hitfilm uses the CPU mostly for reading and writing files from/to drives and encoding/decoding video compression. The speed differences between most CPUs are minor (an i7 8xxx is only about 25% faster than an i3 3xxx).
Hitfilm uses the GPU for effects and rendering. The speed differences between GPUs are more significant. An Nvidia 1050 is roughly 350% faster than the Intel UHD 630 built into a current i3.

You know I am going to say it, but do you really need a notebook/laptop , you WILL get more for your money with a desktop pc. Think about your about your planned workflow, if you want the netbook just to review footage, get something cheap or a tablet with the right connector to read your card media. If however you need this for work/colleage/uni then consider the pros and cons of each.

I'm not sure this is true anymore due to the price of GPUs being driven up by crypto mining.

@DannyDev agree that mining has taken its toll on GPU pricing, however a quick check on say CCL computers (UK) and if you compare a desktop with there DEAL of the moment laptop they come out around the same money, the specs of the HD are better in the desktop but I guess if you hunt a deal you might get a good laptop buy

I think you should start by stating your budget.
Once we know what you can spend, we can start making sensible recommendations.

@Triem23 Thanks for the tip of the dedicated GPU, I'm a little less lost now
@Andy001z - I've been using laptops for 10 years, it's way more comfortable for me
P.S: the laptop you suggested is a bit out of my budget hehe
and @AramM My budget is between 1k and 1.5k USD (taking into account my country's currency -
BTW, some of the laptops I found with dedicated GPU are not available in my country u_u I'll keep looking tho.
Thank you all

I found a nice laptop for a bit more than 1k USD and has these features.
Would it work fine?
Bangho - 15.6"
Resolution 1920 x 1080 FULL HD Non Glare Display
Intel® Core™ i5-7300HQ 7th Generation
RAM 16 Gb - DDR4 2400MHZ
HDD 1 Tb - SATA 3
Graphics Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5
Sound Blaster Cinema 3 -
That looks like a solid offer to me, but I looked in Amazon and found this
Seems like a better deal, specially the SSD and the 1060

Or this one:
Basically, I would make an effort to get a card faster than the 1050. The 1050 is slower than my 970M and I am not always happy with my 970M
