Star Wars Episode VII Trailers Color Corrected
I took the time in color correcting the first trailer. Taking out that teal and orange look. Some parts look better than others. This was fully done in Hitfilm 3 Pro. Anyways I hope you like it
The top video is the original and the bottom is the color corrected one.

Well done. Very natural re-grade, and, as someone totally sick of the teal/orange grade, the corrected version looks better.

I agree. I was fine with the whole teal/orange look at the start but now it is just way over used. I would like to see some more creativity in the color grading.

which one is original?

He won't. There's actually "logical" reasons for the (overused) orange/teal grade. First, they are complimentary colors, so they pop nicely. Second, all human skin tones are actually in the orange range, so it works nicely for people. :-/

@Triem23 I know, I was wondering if they do it for Cinema lighting, to brighter colours would scare the crap out of those not realising who the heck is sitting next to them
Colours aside, I will be there watching on the big screen, wetting my big boy pants at the effects.

The regrade looks good, but in nearly all of those scenes it was either desert, and they used a warmer color temp to convey the heat, or it was night, where blue is used to convey the time of day. So in this case, the original look doesn't bother me at all, since it is used for specific environmental reasons.

Also another reason I did the color correction was because I wanted to try and recreate the Star Wars 7 color grade for my next color grade pack. Once deconstructed the grade is a lot easier to recreate . And after doing one scene I decided to do the whole trailer. And then the other 2 trailers.

Thank you

Just in case anyone was wonderingI used a combination of White balance, Curves, Color Correction Wheels, Saturation, and a few others

You should do a tutorial or a walk though on the color correction. Take 2 scenes and make 1 neutral and then make one orange/teal

Wow Star Wars has already come out with another Tv Spot. Well here it is color corrected. The bottom one is color corrected.

Wow - didn't think those trailers actually could be even better :P Well done indeed, I like the more natural grade way better as well. Although it's for the most part less saturated actually, it feels more colorful and real!

Overall I prefer your grade, great job! In a few scenes, I think the original perhaps conveys the environment a bit better, like R2D2 by the fire. (for that scene, I would probably prefer something half way between the original and yours)
