3D Model alignment follow a path

I looked at the option of having a plane layer alignment follow a motion path but I can't find a way to apply the same technique for a 3D model.  As far as I can see, a 3D point does not have the option either.    I basically need to have a car 3d model follow a path with the alignment in a natural way.

Yeah, I just ran some tests on that myself, and you're going to have to keyframe that. I tried parenting a 3D model to a 3D pane set to align to motion path to see if that would turn the model. No dice.

My suggestion is that you parent the car to a "Car Rotation Point" then parent the Rotation point to a "Car Movement" point. That way you can build your motion path, then go back and worry about rotation without screwing up your movement.
