Desperate: "the contents of the file cannot be read" error
Hello. Sorry if this is offtopic, but I don't know what to do anymore, I'm desperate. When trying to open a HitFilm Express project, the program gives me the error: "the contents of the file cannot be read". I have seen that it has happened to other people, but I am not able to solve it (I have already cleared cache). I have also not been able to contact support directly. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

Hi, unfortunately if you are using Hitfilm Express and not Hitfilm Free, you will struggle to get support as Express is not a retired product.
Corruption is a nightmare, not a lot you can do unless you have a backup.

If you send us your project file, we may be able to fix it but there's no guarantee.
Do you save your project onto a Dropbox folder or similar? These programs tend to have a tendency to write the project file as the same time as the program and corrupt the file, making it unrecoverable so I would avoid those if possible and do backups manually instead.
