How can I make a video track into a composite shot if it has cuts in it?

Basically I want the "Gary" "mcnz" and "jc" tracks to all have a title in one corner saying which perspective is active, and I believe making a composite shot with the title and video track therein will allow me to achieve this without having to redo all the perspective cuts which is what that mess is.

however, when I select all of one track, it will not let me make the shot composite. Is there a way around this?

In my experience you need a single unedited clip on the timeline to create a composite shot from it. Selecting multiple clips or across edits won't work.

Your best bet at this point is to insert a new video track above, say Gary, and add your titles there. Another option would be to just render out the Gary or mcnz layers as their own video and then re-import them. But that wouldn't really wouldn't clean up the edit display - but you could convert those single tracks to comp shots. Another downside is not being able to adjust your edit on Gary after the fact.
