Finding 3D points and ground plane orientation

I have created a scene using Foundry tracker and it's worked very well. My issue is regarding finding points in a large scene. I have to repeat the following tasks many times

My scenes are quite large, up to 200 metres square in real terms. When I place objects in the scene it's quite hard to locate them in the 3D views. Is there an easy way to move the view portal to the selected object?

Secondly, Foundry tracker creates a ground plane that may not be oriented to 0 degrees. I can't find the orientation anywhere, so that I can orient my objects to the same plane. Is this available anywhere?
