[ENHANCEMENT] Adding outlines to Text EFFECT (not Text LAYERS)
After finding about the Text Effect, it was almost perfect to adding baked-in subtitles to videos. Almost perfect. The biggest issue is that I'd like to have outlines on the text as offered in Text made in layers or in composited scenes, so it feels like a strange omission in a Text Effect.
Having an outline would be great for contrast and visibility when white subtitles appear on top of bright images.

Agreed, it would be helpful. I can think of several methods to generate an outline around the text effect, but having this built into the effect itself would be a nice time saver.

I paid $10 for more pro looking text effects and a basic feature like outline isn't included. It's a pain to do it separately. I can see no reason why it isn't part of the effect.

There is an outline in the text tool unfortunately its not animatable. The closest thing you will get is the neon effect.

Where is the outline setting?

Hope this helps! You cant animate it to change colors and etc but there is a basic text outline.

@djrmd I've merged your request thread with this earlier one making the same request. Make sure you up-vote at the top of the page.
@Andersen01498 I believe djrmd is referring to the text EFFECT, while you're pointing out the outline feature in a text LAYER. The headline of this thread is more clear about the request, but the text EFFECT doesn't have outlines.

Yeah this is not what I was asking for. Text effect ($10 addon) does not have this option.

@djrmd for now, let me point you to this thread. I pasted a whole bunch of tutorials in there, aiming more for a "callout pointer," but at least three of the tutorials posted are about generating outlines to existing layers. I think at least two of them have techniques you'll be able to adapt to use with a text effect layer/track, although I think the text will need to be on its own plane - not applied directly to a video layer. You should be able to find a workaround until/unless outlines get added to the text effect.
