Media Transcoding Error Failed (Error 64) new error on new laptop
I have a new laptop dell xps 15-9570 with Geforce GTX 1050Ti graphics, 32 Gb Ram and 1 Tb HDD
The operating system is Windows 10 64 bit
When I run hitfilm version 2021.2 and add a mp4 clip I get the error Media Transcoding Failed (Error 64)
The clip will play ok in viewer window but not in Trimmer
The same clip will play all ok on my old laptop running hitfilm version 2021.1
Is this a software issue or do I need to look at hardware issue on my laptop
I have installed up to date sound and graphics drivers

@stephenbrackstone Your system specs look fine. There might be something funky about your video. Where did the video originate? Do you have problems with other video files from other sources?
Since you mention you have a Dell please review this FAQ: https://fxhome.com/faq/crashing-on-import-dell-alien-systems. However, I doubt that is the issue.
All that said, please open a ticket with FXHome support directly.

All the clips over 30 are affected. All taken from Sony ZV-1 which worked fine on my other laptop and PC using hitfilm so can see it being the files. I expect its a driver issue or setup on the laptop windows somewhere. Annoying, I had to use Adobe which worked fine with the files

I have been using Hitfilm Express for 2 years and recently started creating a game design document. I use OBS to record my videos and use Hitfilm Express to edit my videos and recently I have been having a lot of issues with the newest update of Hitfilm Express 2021.2 with settings I had set up for over 2 years. But the current issue is every time I import a video to edit I get "media transcoding failed (error code: -16)" this message after it imports, but the videos I am importing work perfectly fine outside of Hitfilm Express and I haven't changed anything on how I have recorded videos. I have searched hours online to find a fix and haven't come across anything that would help my situation.
