Rendering glitch with mp4 videos and PNG pictures

Hi, i have an issue with both the "Viewer" panel and the output video, and i'm asking for possible fixes please. In my project, i have 3 tracks: the lower is a 29 seconds long MP4 video (videogame gameplay), the middle one is a short MP4 video (3 seconds, an animated character withouth eyes), and the upper is a static transparent PNG picture (the character's eyes), as shown here:

As you can see, in the "Viewer" panel, the frame from the "Video 2" track (the animated character) is shown with a weird green background glitch. This happens only at certain "random" frames, in both the "Viewer" panel and in the output video file. Almost all other frames are rendered correctly, like this:

The issue happens with both Hitfilm Express demo version 2021.1 16.1.11108.7206 and the latest version 2021.2 which i downloaded today 06/10/2021, before reverting to that previous version.

Removing hardware acceleration from main options doesn't fix the problem.

If i use an AVI/MJPEG version of the animated character, the issue doesn't happen (although video quality is reduced, expecially the color saturation). But i was wondering if there is a way to fix the problem and use MP4 files, since my customers will receive these MP4 files and could embed them in video projects made with Hitfilm (AVI files are way larger and i have problems uploading them with my poor Internet connection).

NOTE: the problem appears even if i remove the first track (videogame gameplay). Both VLC player and Windows Media Player correctly render the short animated character MP4 video .

The details about my computer and the involved files follow. Thank you.
