just doing a disk clean and noticed the following
When will these get deleted by Hitfilm, or is it safe for me to delete them manually?
Pre-renders don't auto delete. Within Hitfilm you can clear the entire folder, but that's everything.
I tend to check the Pre-render folder regularly and delete anything more than a month old. Generally if it's older than that the project is completed and rendered or has been abandoned. (So, yes, you can delete them manually)
It would be nice for Hitfilm to add some sort of management functionality - maybe a list of Pre-renders by project name? - since I think deleting pre-renders by project is probably all one needs.
Not sure how feasible this is. But, could be a good Feature Request. You want to type it up, or shall I?
@Triem23 If you could that would be great, bit busy with family right now.
There should be a way to clear pre-renders from the Options dialog in HitFilm IIRC. Unless there is a more specific solution you're thinking of?
You can also limit the Pre-Renders to only take up a maximum amount of GB space.
@TheBenNorris the current system just clears all Pre-renders. The goal is more granular control. I'm putting more thought into it, but I'll have a new Feature Request up tomorrow. Although paragraph 3 of my prior post is the sketch.
@JavertValbarr is, as always, correct, but I assume that, as the designated space fills it's the oldest files that get deleted. Usually - probably greater than 90% of the time, this should be sufficient, but I can think of a few specific work cases where I might want to keep a particular set of Pre-renders around for a while while deleting others.
Andy, my Feature Request is up.
Great I'll close this thread then. Thanks.
