[FEATURE] Object on path.
The ability to assign any object to a path through its "transform" properties (pick the path then it is automatically assigned to the path and can move along the path.

How is this different than parenting the layer to a moving point?
-
when I parent the layer to a moving point, it moves the layer as attachment, however, when I assign an object to a path, it is still attached to the path if I moved the path, but still I can move the object around the path within the constraints of the path, such as camera looking on target while moving around a circle or any path for example.
Another example, text moving along a path by offsetting the text on the path only and the movement of the text constrains only to the path.
Thanks for your support !!

@mabdelbary I agree AE does the thing you are talking about. @Triem23 take for instance if you want a cartoon bee moving along a path you don't want to go through all the hassle of setting things up. AE makes the object use a mask path and it just does it.

Exactly, that's what I meant Andersen. in After Effects using this method helps a lot creating endless options with paths and attaching objects to move along them, also, the paths themselves can be stroked, trimmed, dashed...etc.

@Andersen01498 @mabdelbary so, basically a quick and dirty 2D path option using a layer mask as the path. Check. 👍

Thanks Triem 👍️

@Triem23 Yes but AE allows just more control. I am a huge fan of efficiency

I agree Andersen, the object follows the path and adapt to the shape of path, for example, when there is a text moves around the path, the letters follow the direction of the path and bend with the path.

In the following links some examples about how to animate objects on paths:
The following video is with using expressions:

YEP this is the stuff I want in HF! Truly it would open up a new world for HF

Having Paths in Hitfilm would be pretty cool. This is basically what Josh was doing with "Action Pro". Action Pro was the coolest thing but seems like they gave it up. Too bad because it was actually pretty good and had tons of potential. In Action Pro you would create your own Paths based on your own hand movements... this was the best part because you're basically drawing or painting in 3D space. It is a real shame that they possibly gave it up.
Hmm, I've been exporting paths, vectors and curves animations from Blender back in the day, now in Filmer/Blender owmycgi | Home , Filmer | owmycgi since Hitfilm Ultimate.
Mike @Triem23 , the difference between using paths to drive an automatic animation and or parenting an object to a manually animated point... nothing... the difference is nothing because they both reqiure parenting.
It is faster and more convenient to use Paths than manual animation though and that is what the OP @mabdelbary is asking for.
@mabdelbary This stuff works pretty good now a days. I'd suggest checking out the links to my site that I posted above as I have an Exporter that I've been maintaining since 2013, it exports cameras, empties, paths animations, and all kinds of other animations as well... basically I can export an entire 3D scene from Filmer/Blender to Hitfilm. :)

Exporting an animation with Empties holding the animation data.
Exporting an animations with Empties and an Alembic file holding the animation data.

The object on path could be an option in the "Controls" window by picking a path and assigning the object to follow to this path and control how to deform with this path (it may work as a modifier like the position, rotation, opacity...etc.).
Thanks!!
