Rooftop spaghetti western duel

Very clever. Nicely done. Also, the flying saucer one is excellent. :-)😀
-
Thanks @DataDesign ! I was really happy with how the flying saucer one turned out but I wish I could've found a way to correct the glare on the saucer. Maybe even use the Chrominator plugin to reflect the rocks in the asteroid field. Oh well.

Reworked a previous video to release as a vertical short on YouTube.
The original is here: https://youtu.be/JL3eAsfMw7A

I'm behind a couple of these so.
Dig the 10 second ad. Dig that 3D model.
Hah! Wasn't expecting the mustache to be punched right off!
I like the gag of "too late" and the imploding planet. Do prefer the horizontal framing, but I'm old!
-
@Triem23 thanks for the comments!
Couple things:
1- the saucer in the ad is actually a spray painted salad bowl. The asteroids are a model from prod crate.
2- the moustache thing was a team effort. My GF pulled a fishing line that was attached to the moustache to make it disappear. Actually, the green screen footage for this one is pretty funny. I then added the flying moustache in post.
3 - I'm old too! And I certainly prefer the look of the horizontal vid. I'm trying to build an audience for my channel and I'm trying new things. Unfortunately, reception-wise, that one is a dud LOL.

@DavidLamarre Just proof the vertical crowd doesn't get old-fashioned humor at all.

Just started a new vertical video series with a homemade Cthulhu puppet called "Cthulhu tells it like it is".
Compositing, editing and grading in FxHome.
Sound editing in Vegas.
Some assets from Production Crate.
-
That is one ambitious puppet to make and works so perfectly for the vlog! Cthulhu has some savage observations! 🤣:)
-
@tddavis He doesn't hold back that's for sure. But he's not as mean as the star of another series I've been working on: The Trash Talking Boxer!
-
When Jim Henson meets David Cronenberg. A 10 second super short sci-fi body horror video.
-
Yup. That's "Henson meets Cronenberg," alright!
I see you and raise this Hitfilm-produced composite, "Kuato the Frog."
-
Bahahahaha. That's amazing! Total Recall is great but it might've been better with a Kermit cameo!
-
Thanks! I whipped that out last year when Twitter had the "That's not how it works" hashtag trending for a couple of days...
-
The Puppet News Network is on the air!
Bulge instead of caustics for the crystal ball.
Lots and lots of keying.
-
Woot! woot! One of my puppet films has been selected in a film festival! And tickets are on sale now!
It will also be projected on the side of a silo grain elevator 😜.
-
Big congratulations!
-
@DavidLamarre Congrats on the selection. Hope it goes over great at the festival. May it get great reviews and a packed audience.
-
NICE! Congratulations!
-
Congrats! Very happy for you.
-
Can I just say that your compositing work on practical and visual effects is amazing?
Congratulations indeed on this! Being in festivals is a fun experience, especially in person ones!
-
Thanks @tddavis @Triem23 @FlyingBanana78 @DataDesign @Georgefilm !!!
And a special thanks to @FilmSensei @DafterThings and @Andy001z for their comments on the WIP version of the short. It convinced me that it was worth it to send it to a film festival.
@Georgefilm There's still lots of room for improvement in that regards... But I feel like I'm getting a bit better each videos I shoot and edit. Or maybe it's just the software updates!
-
That's great news, well done for having the guts to enter your work.
-
No rest for the wicked...
A longer video (by my standards)...
Len distort + drop shadow on the curtains for the master shots. Again, lots of compositing and keying.
Quick turnaround on this project. Written, shot and edited in a couple days only.
-
Very very funny and true!
-
Hey!
Celebrations are in order! My short film Planet of the Socks has been picked up by a sci-fi film festival in Romania. Being in Canada, I won't be able to attend but if there's someone attending the Galactic Imaginarium Film Festival, I'd greatly appreciate feedback on the reception of the film :).
In the meantime, here's a pair of 10 sec. Shorts I did recently...
-
Congrats on having your entry added to the sc-ifi festival! Love your stuff. Timing is everything!
-
Thanks @Stargazer54 !
Timing is everything indeed.

A rooftop puppet duel... A bit of Hitfilm pro magic turns cardboard into a city.
