The heart of FXhome is community. We put people first and do our best to recognize, appreciate and respect the diversity of our global contributors. FXhome welcomes contributions from everyone who shares our goals and wants to contribute in a healthy and constructive manner within our community. As such, we have adopted this code of conduct and require everyone to agree and adhere to these Community Participation Guidelines in order to help us create a safe and positive community experience for all.

These guidelines aim to support a community where all people should feel safe to participate, introduce new ideas and inspire others, regardless of:

  • Background
  • Family status
  • Gender
  • Gender identity or expression
  • Marital status
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation
  • Native language
  • Age
  • Ability
  • Race and/or ethnicity
  • National origin
  • Socioeconomic status
  • Religion
  • Geographic location
  • Any other dimension of diversity

Openness, collaboration and participation are core aspects of our work — from development to collaboratively designing curriculum. We gain strength from diversity and actively seek participation from those who enhance it. These guidelines exist to enable diverse individuals and groups to interact and collaborate to mutual advantage. This thread outlines both expected and prohibited behavior.

When and how to use these guidelines

These guidelines outline our behavior expectations as members of the FXhome community in all FXhome activities, both offline and online. Your participation is contingent upon following these guidelines in all FXhome activities, including but not limited to:

  • Working in FXhome spaces.
  • Working with other FXhomers and other FXhome community participants virtually or co-located.
  • Representing FXhome at public events.
  • Representing FXhome in social media (official accounts, staff accounts, personal accounts, Facebook pages).
  • Participating in FXhome offsite and training.
  • Participating in FXhome-related forums, mailing lists, wikis, websites, chat channels, bugs, group or person-to-person meetings, and FXhome-related correspondence.
  • These guidelines work in conjunction with our Anti-Harassment/Discrimination Policies, which sets out protections for, and obligations of, FXhome employees. The Anti-Harassment/Discrimination Policy is crafted with specific legal definitions and requirements in mind.

While these guidelines / code of conduct are specifically aimed at FXhome’s work and community, we recognize that it is possible for actions taken outside of FXhome’s online or in-person spaces to have a deep impact on community health. This is an active topic in the diversity and inclusion realm. We anticipate wide-ranging discussions among our communities about appropriate boundaries.

Rules of Posting

With thousands of posts every day, we cannot proactively moderate all of them. If you see any material on our website that you would like to alert us to or if you feel you need moderator / staff assistance, please tag a member of staff or moderator from here. We will be alerted and will take appropriate action in line with our rules set out below.

  • Do not choose a username which is the same as a company, website or trading name. If you wish to do so for advertising purposes, you will need to contact [email protected] for prior approval. Offensive usernames and profile pictures are not allowed.
  • Do not name and shame any company or individual, or post content which could cause reputational damage or which could be deemed as libelous or defamatory.
  • Do not post links to sites that supply illegal download material.
  • Do not post any copyright-protected material without permission including streaming sports content. If in doubt, don't post it.
  • Do not post material that could be deemed as offensive, annoying or upsetting.
  • Do not openly share personal information of your own or others (e.g. address, phone number or email address). Users that post requests for others personal details will have their posts deleted.
  • No sales posts or “Want to Buy / Trade” posts of any kind. All such posts will be immediately deleted.
  • Cross posting across multiple forums is not allowed.

Expected Behavior

The following behaviors are expected of all FXhomers:

Be Respectful

Value each other’s ideas, styles and viewpoints. We may not always agree, but disagreement is no excuse for poor manners. Be kind in all interactions and communications, open to different possibilities and to being wrong. Be aware of your impact and how intense interactions may be affecting people.

Be Direct but Professional

We are likely to have some discussions about if and when criticism is respectful and when it’s not. We must be able to speak directly when we disagree and when we think we need to improve, but we must do so respectfully.

Be Inclusive

Diversity of views and of people on teams powers innovation, even if it is not always comfortable. Encourage diverse perspectives. Help new voices be heard and listen actively. If you find yourself dominating a discussion, it is especially important to step back and encourage other voices to join in. Provide alternative ways to contribute or participate when possible.

Be inclusive of everyone in an interaction, respecting and facilitating people’s participation whether they are:

  • Not native language speakers
  • Coming from a different culture
  • Using pronouns other than “he” or “she”
  • Living in a different time zone
  • Facing other challenges to participate

Understand Different Perspectives

Our goal should not be to “win” every disagreement or argument. A more productive goal is to be open to ideas that make our own ideas better. “Winning” is when different perspectives make our work richer and stronger.

Appreciate and Accommodate Our Similarities and Differences

FXhomers come from many cultures and backgrounds. Cultural differences can encompass everything from official religious observances to personal habits to clothing. Be respectful of people with different cultural practices, attitudes and beliefs. Respect people’s right to privacy and confidentiality. Be open to learning from and educating others as well as educating yourself; it is unrealistic to expect FXhomers to know the cultural practices of every ethnic and cultural group, but everyone needs to recognize one’s native culture is only part of positive interactions.

Lead by Example

Your actions influence others to behave and respond in ways that are valuable and appropriate for our organizational outcomes. Design your community and your work for inclusion. Hold yourself and others accountable for inclusive behaviors. Make decisions based on the highest good for FXhome’s mission.

Behavior that will not be Tolerated

The following behaviors are considered to be unacceptable under these guidelines.

Violence and Threats of Violence

Violence and threats of violence are not acceptable - online or offline. This includes incitement of violence toward any individual, including encouraging a person to commit self-harm. This also includes posting or threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information (“doxxing”) online.

Personal Attacks

Conflicts will inevitably arise, but frustration should never turn into a personal attack. It is not okay to insult, demean or belittle others. Attacking someone for their opinions, beliefs and ideas is not acceptable. It is important to speak directly when we disagree and when we think we need to improve, but such discussions must be conducted respectfully and professionally, remaining focused on the issue at hand.

Derogatory Language

Hurtful or harmful language related to:

  • Background
  • Family status
  • Gender
  • Gender identity or expression
  • Marital status
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation
  • Native language
  • Age
  • Ability
  • Race and/or ethnicity
  • National origin
  • Socioeconomic status
  • Religion
  • Geographic location
  • Other attributes

is not acceptable. If you’re unsure if a word is derogatory, don’t use it. This also includes repeated subtle and/or indirect discrimination; when asked to stop, stop the behavior in question. The same rules apply if you are leading or encouraging derogatory or disruptive behavior.

Disruptive Behavior

Sustained disruption of events, forums, or meetings, including talks and presentations, will not be tolerated.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Bad behavior from any FXhome user, including those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated. Intentional efforts to exclude people (except as part of a consequence of the guidelines or other official action) from FXhome activities are not acceptable and will be dealt with appropriately.

Reports of harassment/discrimination will be promptly and thoroughly investigated by the people responsible for the safety of the space, event or activity. Appropriate measures will be taken to address the situation.

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. Violation of these guidelines can result in you being asked to leave an event or online space, either temporarily or for the duration of the event, or being banned from participation in spaces, or future events and activities in perpetuity.

In addition, any participants who abuse the reporting process will be considered to be in violation of these guidelines and subject to the same consequences. False reporting, especially to retaliate or exclude, will not be accepted or tolerated.

This page includes rules and guidelines for using the FXhome Support forums; see also the FXhome Community Participation Guidelines. We assume good faith when dealing with violations; we will only warn or ban users who repeatedly or blatantly violate the rules.

FXhome staff have the final say in modifying, interpreting, and enforcing these rules.

Subjects covered in the support forums

Posts in the section must be either questions about the use of the products listed on the FXhome Support home page or else answers to those questions. Users who post about subjects that are not support requests for those FXhome products will be directed to an alternative discussion forum or to another resource, if appropriate, and the question will be tagged "offtopic".

Posting support requests

Create one thread and only one thread for each subject or FXhome product you need help with.

Do not re-use existing threads started by others, even if they are seemingly on the same subject. Create a new thread in the relevant section instead.

Create a descriptive, accurate discussion title so that the nature of the issue is clear at a glance.

Provide details of your hardware. Specifically operating system, CPU, GPU and amount of memory. If you're using a Mac, tell us the specific model.

Describe the nature of the issue. Does it happen repeatedly, or was it a one-off? Did you encounter any specific error messages? Was it a graphical glitch, unexpected behavior or an actual crash?

Most important of all: provide concise, simplified step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the issue. This will enable us to investigate rapidly on our test systems.

If you're able to provide an example project which demonstrates the issue this will also be hugely useful.

We may have additional questions, so please keep an eye on your discussion for follow-up posts.

Reporting issues in this manner will ensure that nothing gets lost in unrelated discussions.

Warning: Support threads are automatically archived and locked, when they reach 2 weeks old without replies. If you re-use an old thread to ask for help, you might not get an answer.

Spam

Users who post forum spam will have their posts removed. If a post that is otherwise appropriate includes links considered to be spam, those links will be removed.

Images and other media

You can add images, such as a "screenshot" of your computer screen. Images or other media added to a support question must help explain a problem with a FXhome product or a solution to the problem. Inappropriate media will be removed. Note: For basic instructions on creating a screenshot, see the How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Sensitive information

Don't post any sensitive information. Moderators will remove personal information from posts to protect your privacy.

Links

Link to content rather than posting it in its entirety, unless you are the copyright holder or have permission from the copyright holder.

Do not post links to third-party download sites for FXhome products. Third-parties sometimes fetch the wrong builds, or add malicious software to the download. Moderators may edit or remove links to third-party download sites.

Do not post direct links to executable files. Moderators may remove these links to protect users from potentially malicious downloads. You can post a link to the web page that contains the file download but it may also be removed if a Moderator finds that the web page content could be harmful or if the web page link is spam.

Language and conduct

  • Do not use obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or excessively violent language.
  • Do not harass, insult, taunt, provoke, demean, or personally attack other forum members. Be friendly even if others are not.
  • Do not excessively "bump" a thread (post simply to get a thread to the top of the list).
  • Do not double post, staff / moderators will get to your question, please be patient.
