Tracking a text object

Hi Everyone - hope you're all keeping well in these uncertain times.

I'm a relatively new user and just trying to get to grips with workflow and the like.  My issue is that I've got a Text Layer that sits in 3d space and I want to track one of the letters - basically I want lightning to hit the first letter as it revolves.

It appears that there's no tracking on Text Layers, so any suggestions on how I can proceed?

Thanks in advance,

Jes

@SadOldGoth You shouldn't need to track a text layer or any 3D layer really unless it's a video.  The position data of the text should be able to be found in the control transform properties.  It is most likely based on the very center of the text layer so all you need to do find out what the offset it from the center to the first letter and on it's rotation that will be changing and subtract it accordingly.  That's just the first thing that popped into my head and I haven't tried it, and there may be another way I don't know about.
