Automatic black background - Express

Hello fellows, newbie here. I was trying to follow ProductionCrate Text to Smoke tutorial and having some problems. Noticed that, in creating a  new comp, in the tutorial they had a trasparent background (and the text layer),  while everytime i create a comp the background  is automatically black ad i seem not to find a way to get rid of it. Can anyone help?

@flos87 black is the default background color. In the viewer options there is an option to display the transparency checkerboard or change the default color, this should help you.
