Problem Importing GoPro 2.7k Media - Imported as Audio
I have a video project of almost two hours that I can't even get imported into the media of Hitfilm. I tried new settings on my GoPro and wanted to compare some footage. Unfortunately, I can't do anything with it in the editing program, as it only imports as an audio file. It is the audio of the video, but it's useless. I don't think it's a problem with my computer, as the raw footage plays just fine outside of the GoPro program I have installed; it plays from its file location on a different program.
Please help!

It sounds like your media is using the HEVC/H.265 video codec. This video codec Hitfilm does not support. You will have to transcode to another format. Details from the free MediaInfo utility program can verify the exact contents of your media.

NormanPCN i have the same problem with 4k videos.can you tell me a safe program to transcode the videos and in which format?

Here are various resources on transcoding.
Recommended destination codecs for transcode. Cineform or fast decode AVC (specifically certain settings often called Norman AVC on this forum). With the hardware AVC decode in HF 12, AVC can perform very well. Cineform files will be much larger than your source media. With HEVC sources, even AVC will be bigger.
Here is the master video on transcoding. It is slightly out of date but still relevant.
