Looking for speed effect without frame blending

I have tried using the speed effect for syncing a gaming montage, but it ended up looking super awkward because it blurred the frames. One thing to bear in mind is that I recorded the game while I modded the timescale to 25%. So if I sped it up to be normal speed, it would be at 240 FPS. I did this to keep it from looking choppy when sped down. Like I said, it blurred the frames, so I just did away with the sync. I would like to know if there is a way to keep frames from blurring when using the Speed effect or if another effect exists entirely.

Thanks for any help!

Speed always does frame blending. No options to control frame blending.

The only other retiming feature you can use in Hitfilm is the rate stretch tool. It does not do frame blending and have no control over this. So Speed and rate stretch are not visually compatible. Thankfully rate speed does not come with the Speed effect quirks with the resulting clip size. Unfortunately you cannot keyframe rate speed so you cannot ramp speed from A to B.
