Hi I saw this picture on the hitfilm manual page... I was wondering how in could create a similar effect.[attachment=740:image.jpg]

That's created using Atomic Particles, applied to a multi-colored plane.  And with the Spherical Warp properties turned up pretty significantly.

You should look at the tutorials on Atomic--it's one of the more processor-intensive effects, and it takes experimentation to get it.
One thing to remember about Atomic is that it's taking a 2D layer and projecting it into 3D space--When working with Atomic, leave the layer 2D, but create a 3D point to attack the "transform from" to.

    And this one:

Then look at this tutorial which touches on how to link Atomic's parameters to a mask layer.

Ok so i applied a spherical wrap to a color gradient with atomic particles applied.  (i watched the tutorials) however i was unable to do that effect.  I played with the numbers allot and couldn't find anything that looked quite like that....
Also as a side question I'm now all caught up on tutorials about how often do we see new ones?

Starting from that tutorial I made an effect similar to the picture you have except I put a flame inside of it.  Then just started adding various things to get the look I wanted.    The tutorial is just a starting point, that's all.
It's a matter of playing around and see what you can accomplish but from your initial post this tutorial maybe closer to a starting point to get you to where you want to be than the ones earlier in the thread.

There is also a tutorial on snow and fire globes that show a person inside of it moving around but I would start with that tutorial I posted then go look at that one. You can find it on youtube, I am not sure if it is linked to on hitfilm.com or not.

This is the snowglobe tutorial idrankwhat mentioned. He also raises a good point that a good tutorial is about a concept, not an effect. That procedural sphere tutorial gets you close to the look of the electrode inside a plasma globe... really, the hardest part of the plasma globe is going to be the flares where the plasma filaments hit the inside of the globe.
