A grade layer for the editor?

Hello,

So I might be missing a big thing here... but, in the media panel you can create a new plane for the editor panel but it doesn't accept most effects. 

The thing is that right now, for every segment of video (composite shot), I add to the editor timeline, I have to take one, put all the desired effects on it, then copy/paste it into all the other segments. 

So I was wondering if there is a way to create some kind of "grade layer" thing for the Editor panel which would affect the whole movie?
