Why are there Pro features such as 3d model importing and lightswords in my HitFilm Express 2017? Is this normal? Lightswords, they are supposed to be paid for, no?
If you can use those, you have installed the demo for HitFilm Pro 2017. ^^
No I think lightswords are free now.
Well, the thing is, if I press the selector button right to the Import... button in my Media Panel, there isn't an option for 3d models. However, there is one when I right-click on an empty space inside my media panel. So I am thinking is this some kind of, I don't know, mistake? A behavior that is not supposed to happen?
And no, my HitFilm isn't a trial version for pro. It clearly says "EXPRESS" on the top. The Logo is orange. Most Pro features like particles are lacking. I've used HitFilm 4 Express too, so I know the difference.
Yes, 3d models are importing into Express 2017.
3D models won't be importing for long.
Incidentally, you might be able to load a model at the moment, but if you're going to do something with it, it better be completed and rendered in one session. If you try to load a project with 3D models they will be stripped out.
In short, enjoy the bug before it's patched.
Lightswords are now included in Hitfilm Express. The upgradd Lightsword Ultra is now the version in the add on pack.
I do all my 3D stuff in Blender anyway So I am not worried if Express won't have any 3D model support after next Express 2017 update.@Triem23 who was the naughty one who included it in Express by mistake? And are you 100% sure it was included by mistake?
@Yeremyah I am 100% certain that is a mistake. There was direct communication with devs on this issue a week ago, originally instigated by Javert Valbarr.
If it was intentional, that would be the number one thing in promoting Express 2017. Hitfilm Express 3 ONLY had a $100 3D models add-on which was discontinued. The few users who bought that pack have forward compatibility.
Time to disable updates... (installs onto computer and disabled wifi/unplugs Ethernet)
@TriFlixFilms heh. Again, right now you can trick Express into loading a model, but you can't load in projects with models. You're committing yourself to setting up any loaded models from scratch everytime, and finishing the project completely in one session. :-p.
You'll also be held with that really slow import code that's being fixed.
Thank you @Triem23
ok, i now have he17 and the only thing i can import thats 3d is the 3d data tracking..... so unless im missing something how do you do it?
Hi @JunmoMoon - thanks for your message! As @Triem23 has already kindly mentioned, this was indeed a mistake. It was spotted very quickly once HitFilm Express 2017 was released, and our developers are working quickly to amend it. We will be releasing an update very soon to fix this issue. We apologise for any inconvenience this might have caused you, and thank you for alerting it to us!
That's OK @KirstieT , take your time to remove it
