video layer as light source or light mask

Hithere - am trying to get a 3d model lighted by a flickering light. In particular I would like to have a glitch type video layer lighting the surface of the model (something like VHS noise) - maybe using the video layer as light source or getinmg the light to pass through the video layer as a masking layer so the light shines through the white pixels only

any idea if this can be done in hitfilm?
