Mouse shortcuts

I have been looking for ways to improve my work flow recently. And i noticed that I had a couple of unused buttons on my mouse. I was just wondering if there was a way to set shortcuts to them, as I can't by using the options menu.

As those extra buttons are not standardized, they normally can't be accessed from within software like HitFilm. You can however use a tool like X-Mouse Button Control to assign keypresses, makros or other functions to all buttons on your mouse, I use it myself and it gets really handy in many cases.
