I'll make this quick I use bandicam and I have been trying to import my AVI files into hitfilm 4 express. It keeps saying that "the media could not be found." I heard it was an issue with the Codec but I'm not sure what that really means. Here are the last settings I used (basic default avi settings on bandicam)

Size = full size

FPS = 30

Codec H264 (CPU)

Quality 80

here are the other codec settings that I can use:

H264 (NVIDIA NVENC)

H264 (Intel Quick Sync Video)

Xvid

Mpeg-1

Motion JPEG

YV12

RGB24

External codecs:

Cinepak Codec by radius

Intel IYUV codec

Lagarith Lossless Codec

Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1,V2, & V3

Microsoft Video 1

VP60 Simple Profile

VP61 Advanced Profile

VP62 Heightened Sharpness Profile

Xvid MPEG-4 Codec

Would any of these "Codecs" work with hitfilm 4?

    @CrypticA1 You might give RGB a try.   "Codec"  is shorthand for Encoder/Decoder.

    AVI's come in many "flavors".  Just depends on the codec used to create them.  I have some that don't work with HF either.

    I would also suggest downloading and installing a utility called MediaInfo.

    https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

    Once on your system, all you have to do is right click on a video file(assuming you're on a PC) and MediaInfo will tell you what codec the video and audio were created with plus some other useful information.  This is handy when trying to figure out why one file works with HF and another one doesn't.
