Getting the Controls panel to display

I downloaded hitfilm 4 express but I dont know why the control collumn didnt appear..

    Most panels in the HitFilm interface can be shown or hidden, so you can display only the panels you need at any given time and reduce clutter. The Workspace menu (or View menu on Mac) gives you full control over what panels are shown, and which workspace layout is displayed.
