Every time I try to open Hitfilm I get an error message and it closes.
"Audio playback engine could not be initialized
error code: 2"
And the repair doesn't repair it. What should I do?
Tagging... Oh it's @DanielGWood 's turn.
Assuming you are seeing the exact same error as @verloksy, the problem is caused by HitFilm being unable to access an audio playback device. Check that your default audio device is enabled and plugged in, and that any drivers for it are fully installed and up-to-date.
It you are seeing a different error, please let us know what the specific error message is, what program and version you are running, and your basic computer specs (RAM, Graphics card, CPU, operating system).
I hope that helps!
Hi @DanielGWood I use a USB headset, can that be it?Stereo mix only works with p2 headset for mobile. (maybe it helps)
I install the HitFilm 4 Express.
i7-4770 - 3.40GHz
AMD Radeon R9 200 series
Headset Gaming Naja Black 7.1 USB
@Hartiel can you please run updates for DirectX? This issue can be caused by HitFilm being unable to find the correct DLL for XAudio2, which is part of DirectX.
You can find information on updating DirectX here.
@DanielGWood I use windows 10 and I tried to install directx again, it is updated.
Hrm, do you have an alternative audio device you can try to see if that makes a difference?
@DanielGWood I've try with usb headset, mobile headset and my tv, nothing work.
@Hartiel - Can you see if you have any pending / outstanding updates for your Windows installation please? Also make sure that you have a valid audio device connected at all times when using HitFilm as this can sometimes affect playback.
My Windows is update and these are my devices: https://snag.gy/XBy3AO.jpgI've try with all. This is error. HitFilm open, but I can't use.
And you are getting this error:"Audio playback engine could not be initialised - error code: 2"If so, can you go to C:\Windows\System32 & look for 'XAudio2_7.dll', is the .dll present?
Yes. It's present.
Can you remove that .dll from that location & place it somewhere safe. Do not delete it, just cut it & paste it somewhere else. Then try the software again? Does it work?
@AdyWow. I don't believe. It's working ;-;. Hahaha
I'm did what you say and re-instaled directX.
Very thanks and sorry for this :P
Hi, I'm also struggling with the same problem. I've tried everything possible. What should I do?
@thogaud then I suggest trying the steps already posted in this thread.
Of course I have tried to do what is said in the other comments. I have found the XAudio2_7.dll file and I tried to move it to a safe place. I have also tried to find the latest update on DirectX, without luck. Should I try to uninstall and install DirectX again? I have version 12 of DirectX.
@thogaud - You can certainly try re-installing DirectX, it can be found in the link here -DirectX Web Installer
Let me know how you get on?Thanks,Ady
