Anyone know where to get a cheap view finder for the LCD of my t3i?

Awesome, so that works with canon 600d? But what happens when you twist the screen around, will you still be able to use the view finder
-
Yeah.
Here's a pro version, with a pro price: http://www.amazon.com/Zacuto-Z-Find-PRO3-Z-Find-Pro3-Optical-Viewfinder/dp/B003UF22RG/ref=sr_1_23?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1334965241&sr=1-23
You won't see the screen any better though.
Here's the exact one I bought, read the reviews: http://www.amazon.com/GGS-Hoodeye-Foldable-Viewfinder-Magnification/dp/B004HD3G6Q/ref=pd_cp_p_0
The bad reviews are because people don't follow instructions. The frame has to sit with a small weight on it for 24 hrs. to set properly. It is 3M pressure activated type adhesive, not instant stick and go.
It is true that when you have a viewfinder installed on your LCD screen, you have to be aware of it, just like a long lens, and don't blame the accessory if it gets stuck on your zipper or belt buckle.
Some of the people out there have no business buying cameras because they're not able to walk and chew gum at the same time.
You're gonna be shocked at how many people WON'T use something like this because they think using the viewfinder is for digicam users, and they spent a grand on their camera, and they want to look through the little peephole because their brain doesn't realize what the LCD is capable of in a modern camera.
Trust me on this one, once you try it, you'll never take it off, even at night. -
Ok, thanks for the help, I like the cheaper version, the one uhave, but do you have pictures of yours in your camera ican see, (also can you take the LCD out and swivel it around with this?) and you mentioned adhesive, so the finder is permanent?!
I'll understand better when I see close up pictures and what not, lol
Thanks anyway -
There is a thin plastic frame with 3M adhesive around the very edge, and a piece of glass in the frame to protect the LCD.
The viewfinder snaps on and off of this frame. The frame stays on permanently, but you can remove it with a hairdryer on low heat.
The frame prevents the LCD from closing with the screen facing the camera, but all other positions are normal and usable.
The frame does not cover any of the pixels, it attaches to the very outer black area.
If you can't live with this, then you're going to have to pay the big bucks.

This shows various positions, but you can shoot straight too, with the LCD flat on the back of the camera.
Look at the center bottom pic and you'll see the frame mounted. -
Cool, that is awesome, if the LCD is protected I don't mind to much that it doesnt fold back into the camera, anyway with the glueing, when you place the frame on does it slide about or does it slot onto a part of the black rim around the LCD so when you glue it it will not slip or be out of place? If ya know what I mean...
Thanks for the help
Also, can you rotate the eye piece so you can use either eye to look through it? -
Yeah, the frame has a notch in it, and the eyepiece has a thumb clip thing you press and it clips on/off.
Yeah, you can rotate the eyepiece for L/R.
Just remember to take your time mounting the frame nice and square, and set a book or whatever on it for 24 hrs. to cure. If it's not on there straight, the viewfinder will be crooked. -
Okay, thanks mate, I may buy one soon

So if I buy this... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Shoulder-Support-Mount-Camcorder/dp/B007FMXK3A/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1335385187&sr=8-13 and the eye piece I can then fold out the LCD and have the eyes piece up to my eye so I can look through it, whilst using a shoulder mount?
-
Bud! Do you have this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Shoulder-Support-Mount-Camcorder/dp/B007FMXK3A/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A218LHYPE7MHER ?! If so, can I use it whilst using eye piece (will eye piece reach my eye if I use this shoulder mount with LCD flipped out?)
Thanks! -
No, I don't have that kind of stuff. I don't make movies.

Hmm, I could have sworn some one has one of these on this forum, I thought it was u, but it must be someone else!
Thakns anyway, so u just do photography then? -
Motion Graphics, mostly. I do make my own stock footage, but usually mash it up with other stuff. I make quite a bit of 3D graphics too, but not skinned vertices, hahaha, just clean, crisp, eye catching stuff.
I did notice the motion layers in your logo. That kind of thing stands out more than static images, and that's basically motion graphics too. -
oh alright then, seems like pretty call stuff, especially stock footage creation, i tried that ones with party poppers and wate balloons, it worked out pretty well

yeahi just used 2d images i made in MS paint and made them 3D and span them aroundand yeah they do stand out more than static images and they are more eye-catching and interesting to watch

Yeah, when you take the time to add that extra bling, the people with discerning eyes will take notice, but the unwashed masses won't notice, so you won't get the most comments on the technical work.
That's why I mentioned it. :-)
Edit: oh, hahaha, I'm commenting in the wrong post! -
haha that explains a lot
