What camera should I buy?

Yes, that is certainly a great camera, but then, it's a <PANASONIC>, so that's to be expected.
<PANASONIC> doesn't play games. They give you your money's worth. They have no other agendas except to make great cameras. -
Sure, here are my thoughts on the AG AF100...
Does anyone know anything about the AG-AF100 by panasonic? I am just trying to find reviews on everythhing. -
This guy is pulling our leg.

Arktic was just pointing out that he'd already written about that camera on the previous page.

Lol i meant anyone else with a view point on it.

Hi, ive been looking into cameras recently, and he is a link to the camera I will buy, which is an awesome camera, records full HD, can record up to 60 fps (but it has to be in 720 for it to go 60fps) you can add multiple attachments and the swively screen is perfect for filming at weird angles, that is why I am getting it, an,ng with the fact this it is 18 megapixels, looks good, good trusted brand, and overall it has got brilliant reviews

Simon - What make/model do you guys at FXHome use for your videos where you sit infront of the camera talking about upcoming things..? Quality looks great!
Cheers

We use a Sony EX1 for those presentation videos. A very nice camera, though it's a little big for my liking, now that I've got used to DSLRs. :P

I'm currently looking at the Canon C300 as I need to upgrade my kit before I work on my next feature film, I'm even more swayed towards one as this morning I spoke to my employers over in LA and they have just invested in three of them. The great thing about having one of my own is I can hire it in with myself for the work, so it slowly begins to cover its costs!
I'll be hiring one next week to learn and test and fingers crossed it's as good as people say it is! -
I'm looking forward to trying out a C300 in the near future, and it does indeed look very sexy; one thing that concerns me slightly though is that whilst it has a full 35mm sensor, it downsamples everything to a maximum recorded video size of 1080. Madness, surely?!
It's also vastly outside of the OP's price range, even though comparatively it's great value for money. -
That IS outrageous to have such a huge sensor and not have access to it in video mode, and I'm sure it's because of the memory capacity.
But they may have used it to work in a lossless digital zoom too. The new trendy name for the old "crop factor", maybe. If they stretch 1080 to fill the sensor, then digital zooms WOULD be lossless indeed.
They probably rejiggered the Digic chip too.
50 Mb Mpeg 2 in an .MXF. So that would be compatible with HitFilm too, or any other NLE. I see they threw in native 4:2:2 color to make the Mac people happy.
That Canon really knows how to do it right! But they DID steal the design from the independents. -
What are the options when it comes to external recorders for cameras? I've been looking at products from Blackmagic and Im not sure where to look for their competition or comparable products.

The Convergent Design Nanoflash (http://www.convergent-design.com/) and the Ki Pro by AJA (http://www.aja.com/products/kipro/ki-pro/ki-pro-description.php) are probably the nearest competitors, but their price range is quite different to the product you linked to.
To be honest, I've never actually seen the Blackmagic HyperDeck shuttle, and it does look pretty awesome; especially at $350 for the enclosure!
But bear in mind that each SSD will set you back up to $400 for around 30-50 minutes of recording time, so you're going to need to buy a fair few, so factor that into your cost considerations! -
This was a pretty good review of two different camera's

Thank you Eflat, really cool review

I somehow forgot how goddamn amazing those cameras are...

Thanks Simon.

For those type of shots would you recommend DSLRs.? The only reason for asking is that at the company I work at we're moving more into filming internal videos etc and are spec'ing cameras. I recommended getting a couple of DSLRs (maybe the Canon 600d) as for what we do plan on doing I thought it may be a good option.
Thanks

I wouldn't buy into ANYTHING first generation, those are the heavy bug times. Any revisions to the hardware would kill the value of the first model.
All it takes is some Hollywood oldtimer to make some pet peeve comment.
Hahaha, when Walter Murch endorsed FCP, Avid nearly went bankrupt. -
Generally speaking, I would suggest some high-end camcorders like Canon XF300.
